Townhouse Fire
Monday, January 4th, 2010The Sunday after new years 2010, the fire started in the town house next to one of the homes we insure. Water and smoke caused damage to the home we insure… BUT we did not insure the home that burned. Your Town home can be damaged quickly when the next door town home burns. The landlord’s policy protects the landlord but NOT the tenant. The fire that happened this weekend required the tenant to move out due to safety concerns and the smoke and water damage.
In this case, the tenant did not have renters insurance. Their property is damaged by smoke and water… Also, the tenant now has to stay at a hotel until the home is ready to move back into. All of these inconveniences cost money. A renter’s insurance policy can protect the tenant from these type of losses.
